One of the duties of the Ministry of Finance is to prepare Finland's contributions to the decision-making processes of international financial institutions. This is handled by the Financial Markets Department's Unit for International Affairs. The Ministry bears primary responsibility for preparation relating to the World Bank, the European Investment Bank and the Nordic Investment Bank. Primary responsibility for preparation relating to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) lies with the Bank of Finland, while the Ministry for Foreign Affairs is responsible for preparation relating to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The Financial Markets Department also handles some issues relating to the OECD and the WTO.
