Overall ICT expenditure in government agencies and bodies totalled EUR 907.6 million in 2010. The equivalent figure
for 2009 was EUR 911 million, meaning that expenditure has fallen by about ½%. There was an increase in expenditure of
over 13% the previous year, whereas this year, with universities among other things being exluded from the Budget at
the beginning of 2010, overall spending was down. ICT expenditure accounted for 1.8% of the overall Budget for central
government.
As in previous years, the largest items of expenditure were wages and other remuneration as well as purchases of
services, which respectively accounted for 23% (26.5% in 2009) and 57% (52.4% in 2009) of overall expenditure.
There were altogether 3,253 full-time employees in government ICT (4,350 employees in 2009). The total government
ICT work input was estimated at 4,000 person years (5,204 person years in 2009).
In 2010 there were around 98,000 workstations in government agencies and bodies (173,000 in 2009). Altogether 18,500 new workstations were purchased in 2010 (43,300 in 2009), of which 42% were laptops. Laptops accounted for 34% of all workstations in 2010 (28% in 2009).
