One-stop public administration services online: Ministry of Finance and State Treasury announce launch of upgraded citizens' portal Suomi.fi

27.10.2010  |  Press release 134/2010

Suomi.fi, the one-stop citizens' portal to public administration services, has been upgraded. Produced by the State Treasury, the Suomi.fi portal now provides links to all central and local government services.

The new version of the portal brings citizens closer to genuine one-stop access to all public administration e-services, which are grouped into easily identifiable clusters to make for easy navigation. What this means is that users now only need to know one address and they can search and access all the public administration services they need.

"The number of service providers featured on the Suomi.fi portal has increased markedly and they now include all municipalities, central government offices and agencies and a host of other public administration bodies," said Mr Tapani Tölli, Minister of Public Administration and Local Government on announcing the launch of the new portal.

The new Suomi.fi portal also allows users to select their home municipality so that the services provided by the respective local authorities are listed first in the search results.

Suomi.fi is now exclusively intended for private citizens, whereas information for businesses and entrepreneurs is provided through the Enterprise Finland portal.

Towards an e-service portal

The range of services offered through the new version of Suomi.fi has also expanded.

To help users navigate their way around e-services, the portal has its own virtual guide whose job it is to lead citizens through the e-service process. The virtual guide automatically appears whenever users click on an e-service link.

A major focus in developing the portal will be on improving and extending e-services. Later in the year citizens will be able to open personal e-service accounts, and a new map of public services locations will be published.

The Suomi.fi portal is found at www.suomi.fi

The portal upgrade has been carried out as part of the Ministry of Finance's eServices and a Democracy Acceleration Programme (SADe programme).
